A few months ago I “rescued” two kittens from a loser mom who didn’t bother to take care of her babies. I bottle fed them, took them to the vet for numerous infections and shots, and have watched them grow into the best kittens ever.
My love for these cats is a little disturbing really, perhaps it’s my need to be a mommy or maybe I’m just turning into the crazy cat lady. Either way they are my babies and I love them.
With all good comes a little bad. They are true kittens that climb up my body to sit on my shoulder all the while using my skin as a clawing device. They walk on my face as if it is just another area of the floor. They jump on the dining room table no matter how many times I say “don’t jump on the dining room table”. And of course they love to play and dig in their litter box.
I was vacuuming several times a day because of their insane need to dig and toss all the litter out of the box. I needed a break from vacuuming and decided to use some of my Amazon gift certificates that I earned from Swagbucks to buy the Booda Dome Cleanstep Cat Box
The litter box is dome shaped with stairs that lead into the dome. The idea being when the cats are done with their business, they walk down the stairs which are supposed to catch the litter from their feet. In turn less litter on the floor.
We have been using it for a couple days now and the cats love it. Not only did they get a fancy new red litter box but they also got a play hut. They seem to enjoy climbing up and down the stairs and love jumping on the top of the dome before attacking one another.
I also really like it. I like the way it looks although it is quite a bit bigger then a normal size litter box. I wasn’t using a box with a lid before so having them not be able to throw litter all over the place is great.
The stairs do catch quite a bit of the litter however my floor is not completely litter free. I will probably still need to vacuum the immediate litter box area once a day.
All and all I love the Booda Dome Cleanstep Cat Box. It doesn’t scream “hey, I have a litter box in my office” because it really looks more like a little house. I didn’t expect it to completely eliminate litter on the floor, my mission was simply to eliminate most of the litter, which it does.
Getting a regular litter box with a lid and a mat may work just as well but for me, this box is almost perfect.
